This just leaves the central emblem of this mosaic. It is a singular specimen of the marine theme representing the ocean. The incredible son of Uranus and Gaia —first deity of waters, father of all the Gods and beings— appears with all his expressive strength.
It shows a gigantic face with eyebrows covered by membranes and fish scales and nimble dolphins rising from his bushy beard. He is crowned by huge crab claws, symbols of powerful and fertility.
The Mosaic of Oceans of Casariche, Seville, features similar motifs; however, the mosaic from Córdoba distinguishes itself through its plasticity typical from the ateliers of Córdoba.
